==Overview==
In 2011 Jessie Cable and Bob Bolton were awarded an epscor grant to do a project out at CPCRW looking at soil moisture and plant ecology during snow melt (or that is the gist I think).
==Field Visits==
4/7 -- Bob & Bob take out two tripods
4/11 -- Bob & Bob take out the other two tripods
==Instrumentation Metadata (a start)==
Data logger is a Campbell Scientific CR800
Data logger timezone is ''GMT'' (Bob Busey's preference, somewhat negotiable)
AT/RH -- Once per minute; Output 1/30 minutes
Soil Moisture -- Once per 5 minutes; Output 1/30 minutes
Soil Temperature -- Once per 5 minutes; Output 1/30 minutes
Precip -- Totalized 30 Minutes ''Collect every tip, too?''
SapFlow -- ''30 Minutes''
[[Odds & Ends]]

==Instructions for Salt Slug Solution/Q measurements (a start)==
Water is able to dissolve ~350 g NaCl/liter H2O @ 25C, we went for about 200 g/l solution.

Using 18 liter container, means adding 3.6 kg salt
# Add H2O up to 12 liter mark
# Start magnetic stir thing
# Slowly add 2 kg salt to water. Be careful not to add too much at one time as it is possible to bury the stirrer.
# Add water to 18 L mark
# Add remaining 1.6 kg salt to the soup
## --> the process up to this point took me about 3 hours. Plan accordingly
# Continue stirring for a number of hours to ensure well mixed solution.
# Dilution process takes place the following days (to be continued).

-- In the field, we will borrow Jay Jones's YSI 556 MPS sensor.
