Contents
To Bring:
- Put the 3m tripod built from tripod kit here. (The heaviest steel tripod, blue tape on it)
- vertical mast will be 10 foot 1.5" schedule 40 pipe with 1.5 to 1" coupler on top.
- primary instrument box will be mounted at about 1 meter above the ground surface
- secondary instrument box will be mounted below it.
- solar panel will be mounted above primary instrument box and face south.
- cross arm
- Battery box in basement needs holes cut for 1/2" liquid-tite (ship battery box filled with instruments
- Instrument box with 1 CR1000 and AM416 is on site in the shrubs with
- Bring a second instrument box with 1 AM16/32 for met instruments.
Outstanding Tripod items
- Cross arm support brackets and such
- mount am16/32 to second instrument box
- send instruments & battery box on second freight run
- Stabilizer for net radiometer support arm.
- used cross arm brackets last time... need to dig them out and make sure we have enough.
- also could use ubolts and unistrut.
Cross Arms
- Net Radiometer skin temperature
- need to track down unistrut & strut clamps for stabilization (or ubolts)
- small cross arm for air temperature
- RM Young should mount to top without issue.
- Precip stand is already out there
- Need to figure out where NDVI sensors point. & do we have all supplies for that...
Sensors
To Bring:
- 015103 WS/WD
- Make up cable for it
- CR200 for measuring Pressure Transducers
- 5 pcs VITEL Hydraprobe II
- Need to set IDs
- 4 pcs East30 sensors thermal conductivity or specific heat
- also interface board
- also measure the heater resistance of each
- Cable protection
- cable ties & hose clamps for securing cabling to tripod
- VATP 1504 - see email for thermistor calibration offsets
Sensor Heights
- Anemometer @ top of tripod / ~3 meters
- HMP155 @ 1.5m above ground surface
- Barometric Pressure - in instrument box
- Net Radiation -
- Snow Temperature profile -- ground surface in the shrubs
- Snow Depth 1 -- 2m on cross arm off station
- Snow Depth 2 -- in shrubs on a stand.
Already at site:
- HMP155
- thinking about bringing out a replacement temperature head though because the one in place has been on the fritz over the summer.
- TE525MM
- CNR4 w/bracket
- Two Batteries
- Solar Panel
- Charge Controller
Extras
- need to yet sort out how Met AM16/32 will attach
- need to drill out second instrument box so that cables can enter.
- Need to permanentify the solar panel
- bring solar panel from Fairbanks and but need to make a mount for it yet.
- Measure East30 sensor resistance
- label all subsurface sensors
- Need to survey in all instruments with GPS
- Reuse batteries that are already out here, no new batteries needed.
- think about how to mount iridium here...
To Ship:
- Tripod
Installation Guidance:
- Unpack Tripod Base
- Set in approximate position
- Loosen bolts at base so that legs can fold out and also so that the mast can slip into the bottom bracket
- The mast is 1.5" schedule 40 pipe. Screw a 1.5" to 1" coupler on top and follow with a 1' long schedule 40 pipe.
- on the other end, slip the 1.5" nurail cross fitting over it and slide it up
- Mount the anemometer to the top
- with the tripod tipped, orient the tower so that one leg points north
- rotate the tripod to vertical
- mount the secondary instrument box on the opposite side of the pipe from the primary box.
- need the 5.3cm ubolts 2pcs
- mount the primary instrument box above it on the tower
- use the 1.5" unistrut clamps
- mount the solar panel on the instrument tower
- mount the HMP155 radiation shield at 1.5m above the ground surface
Additional Electrical supplies
- 2 pcs butt splices for solar panel to charge controller cable
