Post Trip Notes
October 2021
- In September 2021 we added a third battery and a second site to get a second snow / precip / air temperature
- Reviewing the data in mid October... I think the geonor is killing the battery even in the summer time. I left it connected when we left September and it seems likely to me the site will fail sooner this winter. Battery voltage had dropped to 12.2 in September after a summer of clouds.
October 2020
- All AT/RH Broken
- Think about putting out a second datalogger co-located since the wiring is so set... or not... I should look into it...
- ... in order to have a nonborked reference air temperature and reference tipping bucket.
- Reviewing pictures 10/2021 while trying to figure out when the radiometer went out of level I see it was sometime before the October 2020 data download.
June 2019
- Tripod Mast Bent
- CNR4 difficult to level
- Could use a some help keeping lower anemometer from moving. Like maybe a couple pieces of unistrut to keep arm from wobbling
- Need to replace lower AT/RH as it seems completely broken.
- Rotronic HygroClip2 HC2A
- Should look to see if they sell a better top cap for it more resistant to moisture
- Need to get some SW12V adapter to turn AT/RH on/off and look at program / wiring for other things that could be turned off.
- Left 2 guy wire anchors and 100' of guy wire at UAF Storage. Could bring out more anchors or unistrut / nails or something. Maybe pound unistrut into ground and then pin in place?
- I thought Geonor and Solar Panel would require guying but both survived the winter while tripod mast didn't.
- I think snow sensor maybe failed over the winter, too.
- I was thinking a heavier gauge cable for solar panel might be appropriate, too.
Data Notes
Most Recent QA : 2021-10-21
Barometric Pressure
- Mostly Good
- NAN data is due to low battery voltage
- I don't know why but replacing the broken AT/RH and replacing them with working ones bonked this sensor for the summer. I didn't notice till 10/21 but can see from the data that
1.5 meter Air Temperature / Relative Humidity / Vapor Pressure
- Sensor Fails over 2018-2019 winter due to moisture.
- 2019-01-03 23:00 UTC
3.0 meter Air Temperature / Relative Humidity / Vapor Pressure
- NAN data in 2019 Winter is due to low battery voltage
- Without site visit hard to say why sensor goes dead on 2019-09-19 21:00
- Loose wire?
- the timing...
1.5 meter Anemometer
- NAN data in Winter is due to low battery voltage
3.0 meter Anemometer
- NAN data in Winter is due to low battery voltage
Precipitation
- Disconnected in winter to reduce battery load.
- Need to empty bucket every visit. It looks like there is just too much precip in Nome area for our visiting frequency.
Radiation
- Albedo
- Blip at 2018-11-20 3:30 to delete
- need to limit to 0. to 1.
Soil Pit 1
- Winter data gaps and NANs due to low battery voltage
- Sensor 5 dies 2020-05-16 22:00
- Sensor 3 dies 2020-05-16 22:00
- Sensor 2 dies 2020-06-01 10:30
- Sensor 4 dies 2020-06-01 10:30
Soil Pit 2
- Winter data gaps and NANs due to low battery voltage
Snow
- Transducer fails in January 2019.
