North Slope Training Procedures

  • First make sure you have taken the UAF Safe Driving Course if you will be driving a UAF vehicle. Visit New Person for details
  • Generally we stay at Toolik or in Deadhorse. Review the Toolik website for information about Toolik
  • Sign up and ask your supervisor to pay for the NSTC class offered at Alaska West Training Center
    • The NSTC class allows you to be unescorted on the oil fields (near Betty Pingo/West Dock Sites)
  • Check with Rob Gieck and find out what BP/Conoco Philips Training you will need to take to enter the oilfields (Betty Pingo/West Dock)
    • Bear Safety videos
    • Smith System driving training
