This is a to do list detailing work to be done on the Sept 2-13 field trip. Stream Team (Ken, Emily, Horacio/Bill, Rob) Sept 2-9 or so working out of Prudhoe first, then moving to Toolik. Met Team (Mike L., Jeff D., 3rd person) Sept 9-13 or so working out of Toolik.

Day 0, Drive to Deadhorse (Sept 1/2)

Day 1, 2, 3 Shaviovik, U1, Kadleroshilik River, Bullen DBM8, Lower Kad DBM7 helicopter sites (begin flying evening of Sept 2 or morning of Sept 3

1. Shaviovik R:

  • Water Level Survey
  • Move/secure PTs
  • Install 6' rebar for new and better TBM (install to 5' deep?)
  • Discharge Measurement

  • Move/secure PTs
  • Install 6' rebar for new and better TBM (install to 5' deep?)

3. Kadleroshilik R:

  • Water Level Survey
  • Move/secure PTs
  • Install 6' rebar for new and better TBM (install to 5' deep?)
  • Discharge Measurement

4. DBM7 Kadleroshilik Met

  • Possibly move portion of station due to cut bank erosion.
  • Replace SR50. Measure old distance to ground and then measure new dist. after installation.
  • GWS YSI Air T Thermistor #1 is bad

5. DBM8 Bullen Met

  • Replace SR50. Measure old distance to ground and then measure new dist. after installation.

6. DBM3 Juniper Met

  • Replace rain gage mesh

Day 4 (Anaktuvuk River, Itkillik River, Chandler River) helicopter sites

  • Check E-Fence

  • Add bark chips, trim vegetation
  • Measure distance from ground to snow sensor

Day 4 & 5 (Mountain Sites) helicopter sites

11. DBR2 Ribdon Repeater DBR2 Troubleshooting

  • Needs HMP45C
  • Needs YSIx3
  • Add conduit

12. DBM3 Juniper Met DBM3

  • North fence needs another post,
  • solar panel wires are exposed, needs "plates" or other protection
  • install conduit
  • Swap HMP45C
  • Add bark chips, trim vegetation (if needed)
  • Measure distance from ground to snow sensor
  • Take photos of site and snow sensor area

13. DBM1 Accomplishment Cr Met

  • Swap HMP45C
  • install conduit if time permits
  • install solar panel plate (larger size)
  • Add bark chips, trim vegetation (if needed)

  • install conduit

Toolik snow sensor test site

  • Toolik Geonor T200B precip gauge site prep
    • select site location
      • need 120VAC power
    • install concrete base block
      • dig hole for about 6CF concrete
      • prepare template for 4 bolts, 225cm apart
      • mix and place concrete
      • set bolts in place; orient N-S and E-W, leave 6" above surface
      • protect from elements etc. until set
    • sensor to be installed later...
  • Install SR50 snow sensor
    • SR50's, wood chips, etc.
    • Mounting equipment
    • datalogger
    • hmp45c/anememometer?
    • wood chips
    • Battery, solar panel, charge controller ?
    • radio/antennae?
