For Starters, the to do list:

Pre-trip to do

  • Setup DataViz Tools on new Toughbook
  • Propane stove?
  • Tent
  • bring lunch food & snacks for Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday (sweet & saltys in storage are from this year)

Clothes:

  • 6 Underoos (one for every day plus a few more)
  • 2 pair extra socks
  • 1 pair extra pants
  • 1 - 2 extra shirts
  • 2 pair sock liners
  • light poly pro long underwear, 1 bottom, 2 tops

Footwear and such:

  • rubber boots
  • sandals
  • hip waders
  • hiking boots

Outerwear and such

  • couple pairs of light gloves
  • heavy rain pants
  • rain coat
  • large flannel shirt
  • extra fleece jacket (one or two)
  • probably a light fleece vest
  • ultra light wind breaker (this is my base layer)
  • fleece hat or two

Other stuff:

  • water proof bag(s)
  • large daypack
  • Sleeping bag & pad
  • 1.5L nalgene bottle
  • toothbrush
  • camera
  • regular size ipod if you have one (for rocking in the car)
  • field book
  • camera (if you have one)
  • cell phone (probably will work out there depending on your provider or you can use mine)
  • tent (I'll bring one)

  o Turn Radio on and leave flag 1 high
  o download data and look @ WS/WD, AT/RH
+ shop for food
+ Dinner with Dan Stang

8/15, Day 2

+ Katrina departs Fairbanks (9am) for Nome (1pm)
+ 3pm NGEE community meeting
+ Stay @ hotel

8/16 Day 3

+ Site Visit to Skookum
+ Site Visit to C1 Grid
+ Vlad Shrub (maybe)
+ Vlad Forest (maybe)
+ NGEE Tour
+ Site Visit to C2 Blueberry
+ Return to Nome
+ Gas up in Nome

8/17 Day 4

+ Drive to Kigluaiks
+ Site Visit to K3 (if time)
+ Camp / stay @ cabin

8/18 Day 5

+ Site Visit to K1
+ Site Visit to K2 
+ Site Visit to Saito / Harada site east of Kougarok (if time)  

8/19 Day 6

+ Wrap up any unvisited sites in Kougarok
+ Return to Nome
+ Put stuff back into storage

8/20 Day 7

+ Return truck
+ Return to Fairbanks (10am)
