Starting with south facing high hillslope site.
Oh, we need to figure out if there is any money left to spend to get up to $5,000 per site. If yes, cable protection should be purchased.
To Bring Tools:
- jack hammer & gas (chipping out SM pit)
- Shovels (at least 2) -- snow removal from pit and tripod area
- compass (make sure SP is south-facing)
- hand maul (for pounding in pins & stakes)
- Voltmeter
- tool bag
- cordless drill
- extra battery
- both charged
- screwdriver for a couple of tripod bits
- long drill bit for SM
- short drill bit for 107 probe
- short drill bit for punching holes in the actionpacker for instrumentation
- 7/16" nut driver
- 7/16" wrench
- 5/16" nut driver
- CSI screw driver
- Snow Shoes
- Sled or two
- GPS
To Purchase:
- Another drill bit for SM,
- One for ST
To Bring Site Related:
- Sap Flow stuff
- Screed stakes (3 pcs) (for precip setup)
- 12" Pins (I can't remember what I called these on the shopping page)
- Hose Clamps
- 12V Battery
- Solar Panel
To Do:
- Snow shoe gear to site
- Make a snow SWE & Depth measurement?
- Clear ground near SM Pit of snow but be sure not to walk up the hill from the pit.
- Chip out SM Pit, put organic lid on one tarp and the excavated dirt on another. (And snow? Bob and I talked I just can't remember again...)
- Drill 4 holes for SM
- Drill 2 holes for ST
- Label with electrical tape both ends of the SM & ST (install @ 10cm bgs and 40 cm bgs)
- Orange = 10 cmbgs
- Blue = 40 cmbgs
- Do Sap Stuff & label wires
- Put together Tripod
- See tools above.
- Put legs back on the 2x12
- Run cross arm on legs
- Mount SP to cross arm
- Mount anchor point to 2x12 leg.
- Pound 12" pins through anchor points and into the ground
- Hoseclamp AT Pole to cross arm
- Drill holes in clear tote and actionpacker for instrumentation (what is out there plus precip)
- Put battery in box
- Wire sensors to data logger
