Just a skeleton of a beginning but wanted a place to collect scraps of ideas etc.

  • Finalize Helicopter Safety Plan
  • Make sure GPS systems are compatible between groups
  • Decide if PDF Maps is worth purchasing or if an alternative is better

General Snow Survey Gear

  • 2x Thermal Conductivity Probes
    • have one long sensor that still needs to be found.
  • 3x Snow density tube

  • one pager for fieldbooks on what to do
  • I think UAF will bring out 4 or 5 pairs of snow shoes plus one pair of skis
  • small sled (can haul out by snowmachine on the 21st and leave for our use the rest of the time)

3/20

  • Bob Busey (Noon) & LANL Crew (Evening) arrive in Nome
  • Hotel opens @ 3pm
  • pick up stuff from cargo
    • gear
    • safety equipment
  • groceries

3/21

  • Lily Cohen & Bob Bolton arrive in Nome
  • Hotel opens @ 3pm
    • get settled.
    • get groceries

3/22

Survey marker trip day:

  • 8am start
  • 10am arrive on-site and set up survey gps system
  • 10:45 snowmachine to the top of the drainage. Work down the hill deploying markers
  • ~7 hrs to deploy markers for UAV/helo
    • Stop sign
    • rebar protection
    • rebar
  • evening: return to Nome.
  • Snow Poles

3/23

  • Begin snow surveys in Teller
  • Proceed from site to site


Random

  • Radio test in Council
  • Move base station in Nome
  • download station data at three loggers in Teller
  • End of trip need to deploy Pressure Transducer that is in Nome Storage
  • Need to program Teller_SW site to send satellite data
  • Need to program Teller_Bottom site to send satellite data
