8/5, Day 1
+ Depart Fairbanks (8am) for Nome (1pm) + Rent Truck + Swing by storage pick up: o bear spray o soldering iron + shop for food? + say hi to Rich and his group + Go up to Anvil and check it out (if time allows)
8/6, Day 2
+ Drive to Council (~70 miles one-way, ~2hours drive time) + Site Visit to Skookum (2/3rd along the way) + Site Visit to C1 Grid + Vlad Shrub (maybe) + Vlad Forest (maybe) + NGEE - show Rich around as needed + Site Visit to C2 Blueberry? (could also push this to later in the week) + ?Site Visit to Bear Creek Thermokarst (Kenji Site)? + Return to Nome + Gas up in Nome
8/7 Day 3
+ Nome to Kougarouk is about 2.5 - 3 hours driving. + Site Visit to K3 (~6 miles round trip hike) + Camp / stay @ cabin (or tent)
8/8 Day 4
+ Paddle across Kougarok River, unless stage is low (getting stuff into the canoe will be the most time consuming bit) + Site Visit to K1 (~ 9 miles round trip from beach head) + Site Visit to K2 (~2 miles round trip from beachhead) + ??Site Visit to Kenji borehole (same area as Saito / Harada)??
8/9 Day 5
+ Drive to Kigluaiks? (about 1.5 hours from Nome) + Return to Nome + Meet up with NGEE Part 2
8/10 Day 6
+ Drive to Council + Visit blueberry site? + spend QT with NGEE group + return to Nome
8/11 Day 7
+ Return truck + Return to Fairbanks (10am)
Notes from Kenji
Todd -> next to the gravel road see the pipe stick up. 10m one is very clear, no vegetation. the other is near willows. look for the top of th epipe then loggers are inside the pipe.
Kougarok
two locations tussock the other site is a bit lower flat f
tussock harder to see than flat site.
Bear Creek
just before bridge there is some tundra. can park on the higher spot. usually right side of the lake next to the road. see white spruce at thermokarst site.
bottom of the white spruce miliatry army box hobo is inside
lake is next to road. Matt's thesis is the lake. go around the right side of the lake. nearest white spruce tree. may have a flag or a pipe.
