Spring 2022 Notes
Shopping
- Revisit fall list...
Nome Storage
- Bring out two pipe wrenches in March / June so that we can take apart the drill bit Sasha used in Fall of 2021.
- I have 2 wire snakes in Fairbanks. Blue & Brown. Send Brown to Nome and leave out there on spring trip.
- bring out a couple scaffold clamps for backups to radiometer arms.
Teller Bottom
- Did I replace the CF card at teller bottom?
- Look for files Met_110 to 113 on the CF. They're missing from the dropbox data archive and it's likely that they were CF card write errors so I'm not expecting to find them but wanted to note for future use.
- This seems similar to the file i/o problem that hit NGEE Kougarok site.
Teller Top
- Replace HMP155 (replaced in June 2021 but broke several weeks later.)
Teller 47
- Need to add to the Teller 47 site visit to do list "DUMP PRECIP BUCKET EVERY VISIT"
- ordered a replacement SR50A for the willows site. Will need to deploy in 2022
Teller SW
- Need to measure the Teller Creek at a high flow in 2022 (So: May) a few times in order to be able to use the old rating curve with the new pressure transducers.
- should make a couple changes to Teller SW program:
- alias the pressure transducers rather than use the arrays
- only save out stage & water temp (currently three values being outputted)
- revisit how the SDI12 extra parameters are done... to be more specific, rewrite PT SDI12Recorder so that NAN isn't recorded when SDI12 communication fails.
- definitely revisit SDI12 as the average output turning into NAN did come into play in 2021 summer.
CAS second site
- hopefully we can score the ngee duplex for this but would be smart to test out every instrument before the anticipated fall deployment so as to replace anything that has broken.
- Think hard about swapping in HMP155s for the instruments that came with it
- anemometer needs re-wiring since we used the older one at Ngee Kougarok
- this station's SR50A was water damaged and nonfunctional in fall 2021
- tipping bucket to supplement the geonor?
- should copy what I did at super-site for leveling the geonor
- tie downs
- fence posts
- a base that settles nicely into tundra

Replace top mast and anemometer
- Full replacement anemometer
- potentially could reuse one from storage but will need:
- propeller (need to order)
- cable (fairbanks supplies)
- right size cord grip (I'm sure this is found in my Fairbanks supplies... or the one that's currently broken... )
- unistrut & 1" pipe & ubolts (try the square ones?)
- nylock nuts
- potentially could reuse one from storage but will need:
- new brown tarp
- bring out replacement card... could send new program that doesn't save out the soils data any more to increase storage...
- put soil moisture probe back in ground.
- I guess remove VATP from program to make the data record last longer.
- @Conex
- Ladder (for anemometer fix)
- @Tools Required
- 1/2" box wrench / nut driver
- 5/16" nut driver
NGEE Koguarok Parts Packed in Fairbanks

K1 Burn
- Should visit since I haven't heard from it.
- change out the SR50A transducer
- bring a thermistor for air temp (assuming there will be some damages)
- I guess, given that it isn't on the radio network any more I should expect something worse.
- power cable to fix a chewed solar panel
- coax in case that was chewed
K2 Met
- Station visit required
- Bring out desiccant for radiometers (loose)
- replace CR10X but change the watch battery on the logger to take out first.

K3 Mauze Gulch
- No idea... need to review how I left things in 2019.
- Bringing a spare CR10X to this site, too.
Things to Order
Related: Need to separate out by project ID

- (2019) Redrill hole for C1 Grid temperature probe
- what is needed for this?
- Measure Creek Flow
- salt slug, n=2 samples of 50g / known volume of water
- Re-level radiometers
- polish radiometer domes
- Measure thermistors resistances at Teller Bottom and add them to fieldbook.
- There are a couple with a 0.5C offset at spring freezing point so I think they may be failing and or something...
- Related: I'm wondering if the delay between measurements should be increased for the thermistor measurements.
- Also related: perhaps add a second string up at teller top?
- sort of some additional homework is that I saw instability in a number of thermistors when measuring up top. I suspect but haven't verified that this instability is an indicator for the wonky temperatures seen in the data but need to confirm.
- 6/11/2018 In Fairbanks... down in 106 / the basement there is a box of 12" nails. Would be good to grab three for the Teller SW solar panel tripod
- I should do some experiments with the thermal conductivity thermistors in office/lab to see if I can reduce the noisiness.
- finish surveying vegetation plots

Utqiagvik
- Intensive Site A HMP155 failed (3.5m)
- Intensive Site B HMP155 failed (1.4m)
- Intensive Site C HMP155 failed
- need to replace the network cable running from the computer to the network switch. It cuts out with minimal bumping.... but station is finally back online!!!
- Site A SR50A transducers have failed
- some subsurface items are beginning to fail.
- bring up clear tape and a biz card to label the computer
- bring up the nuc plate and wood screws and other screw packet to mount nuc to wall
