Fall / Winter 2022 Data Review

  • In spring check that teller top site is power on
  • At the Teller 47 snow site, take a photo of the label on the tipping bucket.
    • I have in my invoices pdfs / email I ordered a 0.1mm H2O per tip unit but it appears to be calibrated (when compared to Geonor) as something else.
    • Perhaps never calibrated before they shipped it? I'm not sure. I can estimate but we have some place our own calibrations setup.

Spring 2022 Notes

  • Visit Anvil / NW Campus base / Skookum
    • Check antennas for damage.
    • logged into Nome base station and can talk to that radio but can't reach beyond.

Shopping

  • Revisit fall list...

Nome Storage

Teller Bottom

  • On May 2022 visit a couple of the missing .dat files turned up in the download. I think maybe need to look for more next trip out. So, here is a current missing list (June 2022):
MicroMet110.dat
MicroMet112.dat
Subsurface2109.dat
Subsurface2110.dat
Subsurface2111.dat
Subsurface2112.dat
Subsurface2113.dat
  • Replace CNR4 and resend program with new coefficients
    • Also need to correct the SDI12 soil moisture bug that was reintroduced.

Teller Top

  • Replace HMP155 CABLE. Replaced the sensors in March and didn't solve anything
  • Replace CNR4 and resend program with new coefficients (probably should switch to file save method ...sadly)

Teller 47

  • Need to add to the Teller 47 site visit to do list "DUMP PRECIP BUCKET EVERY VISIT"
  • ordered a replacement SR50A for the willows site. Will need to deploy in 2022

Teller SW

  • Need to measure the Teller Creek at a high flow in 2022 (So: May) a few times in order to be able to use the old rating curve with the new pressure transducers.
  • should make a couple changes to Teller SW program:
    • alias the pressure transducers rather than use the arrays
    • only save out stage & water temp (currently three values being outputted)
    • revisit how the SDI12 extra parameters are done... to be more specific, rewrite PT SDI12Recorder so that NAN isn't recorded when SDI12 communication fails.
    • definitely revisit SDI12 as the average output turning into NAN did come into play in 2021 summer.

CAS second site

  • hopefully we can score the ngee duplex for this but would be smart to test out every instrument before the anticipated fall deployment so as to replace anything that has broken.
    • Think hard about swapping in HMP155s for the instruments that came with it
    • anemometer needs re-wiring since we used the older one at Ngee Kougarok
    • this station's SR50A was water damaged and nonfunctional in fall 2021
    • tipping bucket to supplement the geonor?
    • should copy what I did at super-site for leveling the geonor
      • tie downs
      • fence posts
      • a base that settles nicely into tundra

Council Blueberry

  • Recommend removing. Logger clock went haywire in 2017.

Council C1-Grid

  • Need to download
  • 1m AT/RH needs replacing

Skookum

  • Should download on a station visit and look at it in person
  • Consider replacing CR10X

Anvil

  • Should download on a station visit and look at it in person
  • Consider replacing CR10X

Kougarok K1 Burn

  • Not sure. Everything fixed that was possible on 2021 visit.
  • Consider replacing CR10X

Kougarok K-Met

  • Need to download all other data looks decent
  • Consider replacing CR10X

Kougarok K3 Mauze Gulch

  • Need to download
  • Station rebuilt a bit in 2021 from what was out there. Should discuss if we wish to replace anything.

  • Measure thermistors resistances at Teller Bottom and add them to fieldbook.
    • There are a couple with a 0.5C offset at spring freezing point so I think they may be failing and or something...
    • Related: I'm wondering if the delay between measurements should be increased for the thermistor measurements.
    • Also related: perhaps add a second string up at teller top?
    • sort of some additional homework is that I saw instability in a number of thermistors when measuring up top. I suspect but haven't verified that this instability is an indicator for the wonky temperatures seen in the data but need to confirm.
  • 6/11/2018 In Fairbanks... down in 106 / the basement there is a box of 12" nails. Would be good to grab three for the Teller SW solar panel tripod
  • I should do some experiments with the thermal conductivity thermistors in office/lab to see if I can reduce the noisiness.
