      • 1.5m soil temps?
      • 2x snow
      • radiation
      • probably split off surface water sensors onto a different logger (maybe the cr800 up top or else a new one)
      • airtemp & Precip
      • 3m anemometer
      • use self tapping screw to keep animals from removing precip bucket lid.
    • Surface Water Station #1
      • Bring out CR200
      • Connect two Pressure Transducers to this CR200
      • Readdress them to 1 & 0 from 0 & 0
      • Perhaps use battery from upper site...
    • Teller Upper Station
      • soil pit in the low area
      • new solar panel
      • real batteries in a battery box
      • perhaps battery box located in iarc 106.
      • super animal protection.
    • Survey in and place the two hobo pressure transducers somewhere in the watershed up stream from the main site.
  • @ Kougraok M64
    • if we get permission then site at the top perhaps?
    • If no permission then adjacent to the GIPL Pilgrim site.
  • Existing Sites @ Kougarok
    • Remove lowest section of K-met Tower?
    • Level radiometers
    • level precip buckets
    • general sensor refresh
  • Existing Sites @ Council
    • Remove lowest section of Tower? @ blueberry hill
    • Level radiometers
    • level precip buckets
    • general sensor refresh
    • spend one or two nights with Mike Murphy to reduce travel times?
    • radiometer setup to Grid site
    • put in ground control point

New ~mile 60 Kougarok site

  • radiation
  • heat flux
  • put in ground control point

8/11

  • Arrive @ around Noon
  • Pick up vehicle
  • Pick up freight
  • Visit Anvil Mountain and swap out batteries.
  • Get groceries
  • Pack vehicle for 8/12
  • Pick up freight
    • bring teller coded gear to Bering Air

8/12 & 8/13

(I think this may take more than two days)
Starting to think 1.5 -2 days per site is more realistic

  • Go to Teller
  • @Top Put up permanent site
    • tripod
    • camera
    • batteries
    • battery box
    • solar panel
    • logger
    • radiometer
    • additional box for multiplexer
    • multiplexer
    • Met Sensors
      • AT/RH
      • RM Young WS/WD
      • Snow Depth
      • Precipitation?
    • Soil Pit
      • SDI12 Soil Moisture
      • Soil Heat Capacity
      • Heat Flux Plate
    • 1.5m Soil temperature?
    • Cable Armoring for everything exposed
    • Reuse for SW station:
      • small battery
      • small solar panel
      • CR800
  • @ SW station
    • Move instrument box to the small stand
    • Reprogram CR800 & power back up. (I'm still torn on doing this this year or next year...)
  • @ Snowmelt Logger
    • Reuse Snowmelt Yellow box & Logger for permanent site.
    • Met Sensors
      • AT/RH
      • RM Young WS/WD
      • Snow Depth
    • Soil Pit
      • SDI12 Soil Moisture
      • Soil Thermal Conductivity
      • Heat Flux Plate
    • 1.5m Soil temperature?
    • tripod
    • camera
    • batteries
    • battery box
    • solar panel
    • Cable Armoring for everything exposed
  • Use Survey GPS to lock in positions of all instrumentation (before move and after!)
  • Make a discharge measurement
  • Level precip bucket
  • Bring a drill & self-tapping screw to lock tipping bucket in place.

8/14 - 8/16

  • FUEL UP!!!!
  • If the weather cooperates, hike up and visit the Kigluaiks Sites
    • optional, cancel if behind schedule...
    • download data
    • reorient antenna if needed
    • see if there is anything we can take down from the smashed up site
  • Plan A: Recon the Kougarok site
  • Plan B: save Kougarok_m64 site for '17 or put instruments @ Pilgrim hot springs
  • @Kougarok_m64

  • Lower the tower to 2 sections

Anemometer notes

Testing each anemometer for

  • propeller torque using anemometer torque disc (18310)
    • factory spec is 2.6 gm-cm (black nylon screw at 5cm and metal screw at 2cm)
      • 33821 moved with 0.2 gm-cm (a black nylon screw at 2cm radius), so this is much better than factory spec
      • 61996 moved with 0.5 gm-cm
    • tested both Clock Wise(CW) and Counter Clock Wise (CCW)
  • Wind speed using anemometer drive (18802)
    • @200rpm = 0.98m/s. @1000rpm = 4.9m/s. @2000rpm = 9.8m/s
    • tested both CW and CCW
  • Vane Torque using Vane Torque Gauge (18331)
    • mount the gauge, pull the string, if it moves with < 30 gm-cm of torque, golden.
    • tested both CW and CCW
  • Wind Direction using Vane Angle Fixture Tower Mount (18212)
    • checked 3 directions
      • 33821 all within 1 degree of accuracy
      • 61996 reads 3 degrees less (ex: reads 177 when should be 180)
