site logs

Sept 5, 2008, Emily & Ken

  • tightened guy wires, radiation/SR50 pole was very crooked
  • Old SR50 S/n C4798 and distance to ground was variable (125 cm - 149 cm) due to uneven ground
  • Installed a new SR50 and moved it 1 foot to the north where the ground was more level
  • New SR50 S/N C4789, calibrated by R. Gieck 9/5/08
  • Reloaded new program onto datalogger (failure during transmission via radios)
  • Added bark chips under SR50 and trimmed vegetation
  • New SR50 distance from sensor to ground is 134.5 average and I put it into the program.
  • Program now reads 1.13 cm of snow, an improvement from the previous reading.
  • rain gage was leveled, it was very unlevel.

Future tasks:

  • bring out one more fence post
  • site needs shielding and conduit

13 July 2007, Ken I.

  • replaced missing HMP45C
    • S/N C1440027
    • calibrated April 2007
  • yellow tags on electric fence were already taped
  • fence works (ouch)
  • site generally looks good
  • rain gauge funnel not secured
  • no carabiner/screw link on white box; used tie wrap/wire tie

9 June 2007, Ken I., Dan R.

  • site generally looks good
  • radiation pole is firm & true
    • bird post broken off from net radiometer, found beneath
  • tripod guys are taut
  • no HMP sensor; cable cut cleanly, apparently at base of missing sensor
  • owl pellets below solar panel; bird droppings on solar panel & battery box
  • installed electric fence
