NGEE To Do Next Visit

Trip Notes

NGEE Koug m64

  • Level precipitation bucket next visit
  • Need to bring ladder to reorient anemometer to south. Get offset from Nathan's fieldbook
  • Three more nails for guy wires the musk ox did a number on them
  • Might bring up a smaller diameter pipe x2 for inside radiation cross arm supports
  • Bring up drill and wood screws to secure tipping bucket to ground.
  • Definitely get bubble levels for every station

Teller

  • Could use step stool for teller bottom radiometer (bring out next time)
  • One stripped out screw at teller bottom cnr4
  • Should leave bubble levels at each site for precipitation bucket slash radiometer
  • Should grab a couple extra low temp sd cards and just swap on visits for game cameras (have one spare at the moment)
  • Bring nails for teller sw. Three for winter configuration of solar panel.
  • Need to bring drill and tap/die to teller bottom

  • Teller SW: look at moving solar panel stand up to current station location
  • Install Divers on bottom of hill sites

    • (I'm hoping LANL salt diffusion method here).
    • Flow intercomparison experiment. We will measure several different ways.

Wednesday 6/13: Teller Day 2

  • Replace Desiccant deal for Teller Top radiometer
    • Bring out ladder
  • Re-level radiometer
  • Data Download @ Teller Top
  • Measure thermistors at Teller Top and Teller Bottom and add them to fieldbook.
    • Related: I'm wondering if the delay between measurements should be increased for the thermistor measurements.
    • Also related: perhaps add a second string up at teller top?
  • Finish deploying divers with Nathan

Thursday 6/14: Kougarok Day 1

  • Replace broken precip bucket @ Koug m64
  • Data Download
  • Replace Desiccant deal for radiometer
  • Re-level radiometer
    • bring out two longer pipes to steady the radiomter pole
  • Bring out additional desiccant?
  • Put out divers for wells with Nathan
  • Stretch goal: download old UAF station data by radio at end of road

Friday 6/15: Loose ends

  • Fly out Friday evening

  • Teller Creek markers for discharge measurements:
    • 6 - 9 small rebar to outline: Salt deployment point, PT location, Salt Measurement point
    • pick up some colored electrical tape, too to mark these

  • Radio kit to catch up with UAF Kougarok sites.

Anchorage Remaining Prep

  • calibrate replacement tipping buckets
    • Orifice Diameter = 24.5 cm
    • Orifice Area = 471.4 cm^2
    • 946 mL / Bottle
    • ~177 tips / bottle
    • 1mL = 1 cm^3
  • put box of gear together for trip
  • bring out a tape measure for creek stage
  • Finish looking at data.
  • folding tape for creek measurement (to stash at station)
